April 8, 2018 |
Flat, fast course on Galveston island. Expect a windy bike and a salty swim. Race is typically wetsuit eligible, but not a guarantee. Race is held during spring in Texas, so the weather is unpredictable. One year there's sunshine, the next there's hail. Run course is 3 flat loops, with plenty of spectator support. |

April 28, 2018 |
The only Ironman-branded 140.6 in Texas. Ironman Texas frequently doubles as the North American Championship and offers 80 Kona qualifying spots. Rolling start with a point-to-point swim, followed by a flat, fast bike, and a three-loop run. The weather for IM Texas is unpredictable. Race tends not to be wetsuit eligible, but occasionally you get lucky. |

If doing a triathlon is on your bucket list, this is the race for you. This fully-supported race features a short 300 meter loop swim, with trained lifeguards in kayaks to keep it fun and safe. Participants then ride 11.2 miles in a protected lane around the like and finish with a 2 mile run on smooth off-road paths. Best of all, there is a beer tent at the finishers festival! |

Tri Fort Worth features both full-distance (140.6) and half-distance (70.3) options. This well-organized race offers a rolling start and a lake swim, followed by a rolling bike on country roads and an out-and-back run. In 2017 (the first year of the event), the race was wetsuit eligible. The race has the full backing of the City of Fort Worth - in 2017, the Mayor high-fived racers at the swim start, before doing the bike leg of her 70.3 relay team. |

Cap Tex Triathlon (Memorial Day) |
The only triathlon in downtown Austin, with a beautiful backdrop of the city skyline. CapTex offers olympic, sprint, and super sprint distances. The swim takes place in LadyBird Lake (aka Townlake). Both the bike and run take place in downtown and are flat and fast. The weather can be variable and sometimes the rain gods like to join in the fun. |

June 17, 2018 |
This long-time local race features both sprint and olympic options. The race features a loop swim, a fast bike on back-country roads, and a flat trail run around the lake. The olympic race is the same as the sprint, except two loops of everything. The enduring feature of this race is heat - fortunately there is an early race start, so you can be done before the Texas sun gets too high in the air! |
||
June 24, 2018 |
This old-school 70.3 takes place in West Texas and has a grassroots feel. The race features a wetsuit swim in the beautiful, spring-fed waters of Buffalo Springs Lake. Don't be fooled though - the race is tough and challenging. The race takes place in summer, so the heat and humidity is brutal (often compared to the weather conditions at Kona). |
||
July 15, 2018 |
The Marble Falls Triathlon is a longstanding small-town race about an hour outside of Austin. There are olympic and sprint distance options. The race features a non-wetsuit swim in Lake Marble Falls, followed by a hilly bike and a run through Marble Falls' quaint downtown. A great weekend getaway! |

Get ready for a brand new course for this long time favorite. The sprint distance course is a 600-meter swim, 11.2-mile bike, and a 5K run. The swim does an out and back rectangle in Walter E. Long Lak. The bike course goes around the lake and features some rolling hills. The run is on a mix of off-road path and paved road. |
||
September 22, 2018 |
The Redman Triathlon features both 140.6 and 70.3 options. Redman is known for a challenging swim, a "rolling hills" yet fast bike course, and a closed, flat run course. The weather can be hot (in 2017, temps were over 90 degrees). Overall, the race is a tough, but wonderful event. In 2017, Redman doubled as the USAT Ultra-Distance National Championships. |
||
September 29-30, 2018 |
This race is a favorite of Austin area triathletes. Kerrville offers spring, quarter, and half distances, with each event beginning in the calm waters of Nimitz Lake. The bike course is rolling, fast and features ranch country landscapes. The race finishes with a run along the Kerrville River Trail. Kerrville is sometimes wetsuit eligible, depending on how long the Texas summer is. |
||
October 28, 2018 |
This race is new for 2018. The swim will take place in the Brazos River, while the bike will be a single loop on relatively flat back-country roads. The run will have 2 loops and finish at the Waco suspension bridge. |

November 4, 2018 |
This small-town race is limited to 900 participants. The race starts with a swim in Lake Conroe, followed by a scenic bike along farm roads and forests, and ending with a two-loop run along the golf course at La Torretta Del Lago. |
