Austin offers some great group rides for cyclists of every skill level. Below is a list of local bike shops and bike groups offering free rides. These rides are not affiliated with Austin Triathlon Club, so check with the shop or group before heading out. We hope this directory can help you find a ride that works with your schedule. - Mellow Johnny's Group Rides: Offering beginner, intermediate and advanced group rides. Most begin at 4th and Nueces.
- The Violet Crown Sports Association: Violet Crown is Austin's oldest and largest bicycle club. Violet Crown hosts several group rides that are open to the public. Visit their website (www.violetcrown.org) for current rides.
- Nelos Shop Rides: Variety of intermediate/advanced rides, with distances up to 75 miles. Average speed ranges from 16-18 mph to 20-21 mph. Rides start from Nelo's Cycles on Mesa Drive between Steck and Spicewood Springs.
- The Breakfast Club: One a month ride starting from Central Machine Works. There are A, B, C, and D rides, so no matter your level, you'll be able to find a great group to ride with. Their schedule is on our calendar and their website at www.breakfastclubatx.com.
- Bagel Ride: The Bagel Ride was started back in 1992. They meet every Saturday behind Little Woodrow's Tech Ridge (12601 Tech Ridge Blvd., Austin, TX). Visit their Facebook page for the current week's route details.
- Buda Bike Co. Cycling Club: BBC starts its ride every Saturday morning from Buda Bike Co. at 200 South Main St., Buda, TX. For more information and to join the rides visit and join their Facebook group.
- Austin Trek Stores: There are four Trek shops in the Austin area: S. Lamar, Research, Parmer, and Bee Caves. Each location hosts rides throughout the week. Join their Facebook Group for current rides.
- Blur Cycleworks Rides: Popular and inclusive Tuesday & Thursday Night and Saturday morning rides out of Round Rock.
